Jason: Welcome to another “Central Alabama Business Break.” I’m Jason Mathews and joining us today is Gerald Brooks of the Serious Injury Law Group. Welcome.

Attorney Brooks: Well, thanks for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here.

Jason: Tell us a little bit about Serious Injury Law Group.

Attorney Brooks: Well, the Serious Injury Law Group, we say, “Our name says it all.” We handle cases for people who’ve been seriously injured, through no fault of their own. And we also handle cases where people have lost a loved one due to the negligence of others, unfortunately.

Jason: And you have some community initiatives out there that are helping provide scholarships and award programs. Explain that a little bit.

Attorney Brooks: Well, at Serious Injury Law Group, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve. And we’re proud to, this academic year, award $50,000 in scholarships to students throughout Alabama. Now, what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna break that down into two categories. First, we want to award fifteen $2,500 scholarships to seniors who excelled academically. We’ll also be awarding twenty-five $500 scholarships to students in grades 7 through 12 who show the best academic improvement over the prior school year. We want to award those people who excel but we also want to encourage those who may not have done so well in the past.

Jason: But why is it so important that we offer students these education awards during this time?

Attorney Brooks: The best and the most important time to give is when it hurts and when people are hurting, and that definitely applies now. So we want to take advantage of this opportunity to give back to the communities we serve. At all times, the Serious Injury Law Group believes in encouraging our youth and encouraging our communities. So, again, we’re proud to be in a position to give these scholarships and awards to our students.

Jason: If anyone watching today is in need of your services or if there’s a student and a parent tuning in, how can they go and learn more about these scholarships and awards or your business as a whole?

Attorney Brooks: Sure. For scholarships, they can go to www.seriouslawyers.com/scholars, and our website is just what I’ve already said: www.seriouslawyers.com. Or reach us at 205-206-7070.

Jason: Well, Gerald, thank you so much for joining us today. We hope you all join us again next time for another “Central Alabama Business Break.”
