Donavon McGuire is an Associate Attorney at Serious Injury Law Group who is passionate about helping injured individuals and families navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Born and raised in historic Selma, Alabama, Donavon’s commitment to serving others was shaped by his community and a lifelong desire to advocate for those in need.
Donavon earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Auburn University at Montgomery before attending Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where he quickly established himself as a leader. He served as both Vice President and President of the Black Law Students Association, Ernestine Sapp Chapter. During his tenure, the chapter was recognized as both the Regional Chapter of the Year and National Chapter of the Year, the first time in its history to receive either honor. He also earned the Best Advocate Award in the Greg Allen Mock Trial Competition, reflecting his exceptional courtroom advocacy skills.
After earning his Juris Doctor and being admitted to the Alabama State Bar, Donavon began his legal career at Legal Services Alabama, where he represented low-income individuals and families across rural communities. He later served as an Assistant District Attorney for Alabama’s 4th Judicial Circuit, gaining valuable trial experience while advocating on behalf of the public.
Donavon subsequently joined a Montgomery defense firm, where he represented governments and defendants in personal injury litigation. This experience provides him with valuable insight into how insurance companies evaluate and defend claims—knowledge he now uses to advocate for individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own. He also currently serves as the Municipal Judge for the City of Selma.
Today, Donavon focuses his practice on representing victims of car accidents, commercial trucking accidents, catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, and other serious personal injury matters. He is committed to providing every client with compassionate guidance, clear communication, and aggressive representation from the initial consultation through resolution.
Beyond his legal practice, Donavon remains dedicated to serving his profession and his community. He currently serves as Vice President of the Black Belt Bar Association and is actively involved in civic and community organizations throughout Alabama.
When he is not advocating for his clients, Donavon enjoys spending time with his wife, serving his church, fellowshipping with family and friends, and traveling.
At Serious Injury Law Group, Donavon lives by three guiding principles: Be Prepared. Be Professional. Be Persistent. Those values shape every case he handles and every client relationship he builds.
