A dedicated advocate who believes every client deserves compassionate guidance and a fighting chance at recovery.
Donavon McGuire is an Associate Attorney at Serious Injury Law Group who is passionate about helping injured individuals and families navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. His practice focuses on car accidents, commercial trucking accidents, catastrophic injuries, medical malpractice, and other serious personal injury matters. Donavon believes that clients dealing with a serious injury shouldn’t have to face insurance companies alone, and he is committed to providing compassionate guidance, clear communication, and aggressive representation from the initial consultation through resolution.
Donavon was born and raised in historic Selma, Alabama, where his commitment to serving others was shaped early on by his community and a lifelong desire to advocate for those in need. That sense of purpose has stayed with him throughout his career and continues to guide the way he shows up for his clients today.
Donavon earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Auburn University at Montgomery before attending Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. There, he quickly grew into a leader, serving as both Vice President and President of the Black Law Students Association, Ernestine Sapp Chapter. Under his leadership, the chapter was named both Regional Chapter of the Year and National Chapter of the Year, the first time in its history to earn either honor. He also received the Best Advocate Award in the Greg Allen Mock Trial Competition, an early reflection of the courtroom advocacy skills he brings to his clients today.
After earning his Juris Doctor and being admitted to the Alabama State Bar, Donavon began his legal career at Legal Services Alabama, representing low-income individuals and families across rural communities. He went on to serve as an Assistant District Attorney for Alabama’s 4th Judicial Circuit, gaining trial experience while advocating on behalf of the public. He later joined a Montgomery defense firm, where he represented governments and defendants in personal injury litigation. That experience gave him a firsthand understanding of how insurance companies evaluate and defend claims, insight he now puts to work for individuals who have been injured through no fault of their own. Donavon also currently serves as the Municipal Judge for the City of Selma.
Beyond his legal practice, Donavon remains dedicated to serving his profession and his community. He currently serves as Vice President of the Black Belt Bar Association and stays actively involved in civic and community organizations throughout Alabama. When he isn’t advocating for his clients, Donavon enjoys spending time with his wife, serving his church, fellowshipping with family and friends, and traveling.
Be Prepared. Be Professional. Be Persistent.
At Serious Injury Law Group, these three principles guide every case Donavon handles and every client relationship he builds. They reflect his commitment to showing up ready, treating every client with respect, and seeing every case through with tenacity.
